As Above So Below
This phrase embraces the entire system of traditional and modern magic. The significance of this phrase is that it's believed to hold the key to all mysteries. "That which is above is the same as that which is below", "the universe is the same as God, God is the same as man, man is the same as the cell, the cell is the same as the atom, and the atom is the same as...and so on." This theorizes that man is the counterpart of God on earth; as God is man's counterpart in heaven. A statement of ancient belief is that man's actions on earth are to be parallel to the actions of God in heaven. When a magician feels unison with the universe, he knows he has reached his "higher" or "true self", because he's attained mastery of himself and the universe.
This phrase is included in The Message bible (Matt. 6:10) "Set the world right; Do what's best – as above, so below."
Matt. 6:10 in the KJV says "They kingdom come. They will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
